What gives bitcoin its value?

People always talk about buying bitcoin and investing in it, but what is it backed by? I do want to invest in bitcoin and other crypto currencies, but what other uses does bitcoin have other than using it on the deep web?
is it possible one day bitcoin and all cryptocurrencies can just be worth nothing?
Is there enough people that know about it and use it?
Im not talking down on bitcoin i just want a good understanding of it, before i invest into it. I understand you can lose money aswell, but do you think bitcoin and other cryptos will be worth millions in the next 20 years?
Is the average person well informed about bitcoin?

A better way of giving bitcoin?

A better way of giving bitcoin?
Hi guys,
I was looking for a way to give to a friend of mine some bitcoin to try it out and to introduce him to this crypto-world. I ended up finding paper wallets, vouchers, opendime, and sent-by-email gifts.
But nothing felt like I'm giving something that will surprise and/or have a decent "unpacking experience". And most importantly, nothing that would have a physical value to my friend.
Fast forward two months...I ended up creating my own gift. And I would like to share it with you guys. Not sure if it ends up being my long-term business.
I've designed a luxury package that includes a physical coin, and two metal gift cards that contain a recipient's private key and address. And hopefully will have a great luxury feel to it in the eyes of a recipient.
I had to order a larger number of hand-made boxes for the manufacturer to make them for me at all. Oh, by the way, hand-made premium boxes are expensive as hell xD
If you happened to be interested, I created coinee.store to help me sell those quantities of boxes :-)
I would be more than happy to get some feedback. What do you think of this, guys?

Give Bitcoin Cash Node some feedback! <3

If you have a Gitlab account:
It's never been easier to complete the survey we are running until end of March!
Simply go to
https://gitlab.com/bitcoin-cash-node/bchn-public-consultation-system/-/issues/new?issuable_template=March_2020_community_survey
If you don't have a Gitlab account yet, consider signing up for one, it's free and quick to do, and you will be able to use it to submit any sort of issues to the BCHN project in future (bug reports, improvement suggestions, even your own code or documentation fixes).
If you do not have a Gitlab account:
Grab a copy of the survey text file:
English version
Portuguese version
Copy the text into Notepad or some other text editor of your choice, edit in your responses, and paste it into the text box of one of these services
Save the text you entered, and copy the resulting "saved file" URL into a comment in this thread.
I will collect the well formed feedback and the BCHN project will process it.
Thank you in advance!

Right now is a great time to give Bitcoin to potentially interested friends and family as gifts, for graduation, birthdays, weddings, births, etc. Just be super careful explaining how to do it safely.

Maybe give them a Trezor, offer to guide them through setting it up, and a "coupon" for whatever amount of BTC you want to give them.
Or set up a wallet for them, temporarily, that you control for them, and help them set up their own so that you or they can transfer it into their own independent wallet.
The more newbies we bring into Bitcoin, the more popular it gets. And now is a great time to start, before the halving, so that folks can see Bitcoin in action.
Of course warn them that Bitcoin is a roller coaster, but that hodling has so far been the best way to store money this decade.
